(QNo. 2,3,4,5,6) Solution:
Facebook:
Common features are:- Add/remove/invite friends- Update own profile- Collaboration through groups, events, personal message, chat, group message, Different types of Wall- Monitor the recent activities of the persons in the friend list (We may hide own activity too).- Intelligent friend searching capability in the website.- A number of entertainment features such as Ilike, Mygifts, Optical illusion of the day.- Capability to write/edit a note in simple text format and share with friends.- A number of useful Applications can be added in the profile.- The simple and User friendly interface and the well organized information are the key of facebook.
Ning:
Common Features:- We can create a social network and invite people to join to the network such as Dr. Alam created a social network “infotechtools” and we all the students Engr6923 are the members of this network.- Or, one can join to the social network in ning with someone’s invitation to join to the netowrk.- We can create a customized page as “My Page” and make the page equipped with a number of tools.- We can create a group in the network and share the information within group.- We can post our discussion message in the whole network or in the group and view the topics of the discussion, other’s message.- So, I found it as an advance tool to share information. The technique to be together virtually in a group, network is the efficient way of discussion or any information exchange.
Linkedin:
The common features are:Common Features: - It is more similar to the facebook network. We can add / remove peoples in the different network of this website.- There is a feature to complete the profile in percent basis. The website has ranked different percentage partition for different profile statements. For example, the work experience of the company (listed in this website) completes around 15% of the profile.- We can create groups for different people network like we used to do in facebook. Or, we can join the group of our wish.- We can post message in the group. Write message to a particular person or see the message in own inbox from others.- Furthermore, We can import the contacts from our different email address such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail, aol and add the proples in this network.
Pownce:
Common features in this network:- We have a capability to keep a number of relavent proples in a single set. Its like the group tool in the facebook or linkedln networks.- We can post a message from a Link(URL) or from a file in the disk or write directly in the Pownce editor. This message can be sent to public (all peoples in the network) or for a particular person as a private message or to a set of group.- We can import contacts from different networks and email address books such as facebook, digg, gmail, hotmail, aol.
Stumble:
The common features in this network:- We can connect a number of peoples (friends) via this network and share the information so, it is also a social network. We may import the contacts from different mail address to our stumble account. Furthermore we can post a blog, edit / delete own blog. We can randomly visit the stumblers (user’s profile) in a single click at the “Visit another stumbler” botton at the right side of our page.- Another interesting thing with this website is we can ramdomly visit those websites on our interest (We can chose topic of our interest such as “software engineering”, “Shopping”, “Open Source” etc.)- There exists a recent popular websites, video listed in the website depending upon recently rated by the StumbleUpon users.- We can download a Stumble application that would be embedded with the browser and appears a stumble button at the browser menu bar which lets us access the website conveniently.
Friendfeed:
The common features in this network:- It is also a social network for the peoples to get together. We can add a number of services such as RSS, facebook, googletalk, Pownce, twitter, you tube, account profiles to this network instead of creating a bulk profile in this website. I think it is smart idea to direct to the prifiles in different other websites instead of creating on it.- We can post a message to the people in our subscription list and read the message from those peoples.- We can mainly share the links, videos.- Our every blog posts in different blog websites can notiy from RSS feeding of that blog address.- The activities (such as bookmarking in del.icio.us or posting a blog) in different website are listed in friendfeed once we added from The service section.
In conclusion, I would prefer to use Facebook because of the following reasons:
(1) I am already locked in with facebook network, I have almost all the friends in facebook but not in other networks. So I can be in touch with almost all the friends only via facebook. Sometimes I use hi5 network also because my almost all the friends are in hi5 also but hi5 network is somewhat vulnerable and not much flexibility in customizing the tools.
(2) The next reason is the simple and user-friendly interface of the facebook that is really easy to access and find the information. Moreover it is more customizable (We can add/remove different applications on it as our wish)

Image and Video, voice editing, Flash animation:
There are two kinds of computer graphics – raster (composed of pixels) and vector (composed of paths). Raster images are more commonly called bitmap images.
Raster: A bitmap image uses a grid of individual pixels where each pixel can be a different color or shade. Bitmaps are composed of pixels. Common bitmap file extensions include: .jpg, .gif, .png, .tff, and .bmp.
Popular raster-based digital image editors include Adobe Photoshop, Picasa, GIMP, Corel Photo-Paint, Paint Shop Pro, Paint.NET and Tux Paint.
- Adobe Photoshop: I use Adobe Photoshop for image editing. It has got numerous options for image editing. I think it is one of the best image editing tool available these days. Adobe Photoshop is little complicated to use. I’ve been using it for the past three years but I still don’t know a lot of things in it. It has got good features to do almost every kind of editing. Common features are Stamp, Rubber, Lasso, Airbrush, Eyedropper, Linear gradient, Paint bucket, Sharpen, Burn, Blur, Dodge, Hand tool Type tool, Navigator, Image resize, Adjust brightness/contrast, color balance, Layers, Filters.
- Picasa: I have used picasa as well but I didn’t find it very interesting. Its easy to use though. It can be used to organize pictures by creating different albums and sharing it online. Common features are crop, red eye reduction, fixing color , contrast n brightness. Its free to use.
- GIMP: I have not used GIMP before. It looks like a powerful image editing tool. I have to play around little more to explore it. Common features of GIMP are crop, image resize, adjust color, sharpen, burn, blur, dodge. Its free to use.
Vector graphics use mathematical relationships between points and the paths connecting them to describe an image. Vector graphics are composed of paths. popular vector graphics formats are .eps, pdf, .wmf, .svg or .vml.
Popular vector-based image editors include CorelDRAW, Xara Xtreme, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand and Macromedia Flash.
- CorelDRAW: It is a complex tool. It is good for tackling creative graphics and design projects. Precision tools help you turn your creative ideas into professional results from distinctive logos and signs, to striking marketing materials and eye-catching web graphics.
- Xara Xtreme: it’s a vector editing alternative to Adobe’s dominant Illustrator. One thing we particularly like about Xara is the live solid object scaling and dragging. Its a good tool for photorealistic vector painting. Live Effects is the standout illustration feature. This will let you edit an object (including vector drawings), even after you have applied an effect to it. Transparency tool in particular is fast and easy to use.
- Adobe Illustrator: This is another good vector image editing tool. It has tight integration with Adobe flash. Some of its features are live color, eraser tool, crop area tool, isolation mode, symbols for flash.
Online Image editors are as follows:

I like Adobe photoshop because it has very simple interface with a complex tools. It has a number of flexibility including change of the file format and extension. I prefer Adobe flash to make dynamic pictures and add actionscripts. I am not much familiar with video editing software however i am just familiar with “movie maker” software that comes with windows OS.

The world wide web is based on the client-server technology where the client
requests to the server for service and the server authenticates, picks the service,
load the necessary database from database server and provides the appropriate
server to the client.
installing an application in firefox browser called “Live http headers”.
Basically, the interpreter in the client browser understands the
hypertext markup language (html) documents. So the URL of the client browser
locates the html documents and executes by browser’s interpreter and it is
readable by human. However, there are far more advanced technologies including
the server running programs those gives the more flexibility in this client –
server (Web) architecture. Whatever I have mentioned here is very basic concept.
The URL is nothing more than just the address of the server and the particular
page or application. So, there exists unique address for the server to be point
out by the client browser. However there may be a number of alias directories
(or even nested directory structure) in the same server. The protocol is the set
of rule defined to communicate client and server. For example http, ftp,
telnet, gopher are the protocols (80, 21, 23 are the corresponding port numbers
used by http, ftp and telnet respectively.).
architecture of the HTML page:(I have described
the structure within the comment <!– …–>)
<!— the main identity of the html page that starts from html tag–>
style sheet definition itself. It also include a title tag. –>
<!— the main content of the webpage lies Inside the body tag. It may contain
the table or any layer with “div”, any form element, any embedded scripting or
any embedded server programming (using jsp, php,…) or any database querry and
so on. Every element that is going to be render in the web browser has a number
of properties. For example the table object has border color, background, font
size, color, properties that we can modify accordingly. I am going to show a
table architecture here.– >
(or row). It appears in a slight bold font than the other table data automatically.–>
<!—it contains the data of the table — >
